Support Us

There are numerous ways in which you can help us help children with disabilities/special needs and their families.

Costs of Fundraising

There have been a number of stories in the news in recent years about the amount of money charities spend on fundraising and administration. We therefore want to reassure existing and potential donors that GTLLA is a highly cost effective organisation. In our last financial year we spent just over 3.5% of our turnover on fundraising and governance, which means for every £1 donated to GTLLA more than 96 pence is being spent on charitable activities.

Fundraising for GTLLA

There are many different ways in which you can fundraise yourself - from undertaking sponsored challenges like marathons and fun-runs to cake sales and dress down days at work. If you are interested in fundraising for GTLLA and would like some ideas or have one of your own you would like to discuss please contact us at info@gtlla.org.uk.

A Regular Gift

By far the easiest way to donate to charity is by setting up a standing order with your bank or building society. A regular gift, for example £5 per month, can make a huge difference to us over the course of a year and by making a monthly donation, easier for you to manage.

Payroll Giving

More and more employers can run a payroll giving scheme which enables employers to make tax deductible gifts to charity directly from their gross salary. Under this scheme a £5 monthly donation to a charity only costs the employee £3.90 as it is taken from their salary before tax is deducted (the rest being met by the Inland Revenue).

Leave a Legacy

In order to make a legacy to a charity you firstly need to write a will, the only way of ensuring that your assets and estate are passed on to the people who you want to benefit from it. However, 55-60% of people in the UK do not settle their affairs by making a will. We would recommend that if you are in this position you make contact with a solicitor, accountant or bank manager to find out what to do next.

If you do decide to make a will and leave a legacy to GTLLA you can be confident your gift will be used to make a lasting difference to children with disabilities/special needs and their families.

Tell your friends, family and colleagues

If you are impressed with the work of GTLLA perhaps the best way you can help us is to recommend us to your friends, family and colleagues. Word of mouth is still the best forming of marketing so if you recommend us to others they may become interested in supporting what we are trying to achieve. If you need any further information on GTLLA that would help in introducing people to our work, please email us at info@gtlla.org.uk.

35th Anniversary

35th Anniversary - 2008 will be the 35th anniversary of the founding of GTLLA. To mark the occasion we want to secure funding to prepare the organisation for the next phase in its development. Our aim it to secure funding for two new staff posts – a general manager and volunteer co-ordinator. We also want to celebrate our 35th anniversary by arranging to take a group of families on a special trip to Disneyland Paris.

More Toys

Our library now consists of over 7,000 items but we are always in need of more toys, books and games with which to excite, educate and develop children with disabilities/special needs. We also need additional funds to buy specialist toys designed specifically for the enjoyment and development of children with disabilities/special needs.
